Facebook- A step towards security in India

The multi-billion company Facebook has recently launched a new feature specifically for India where user can lock their profiles so that users that are not their friends cannot take screenshots of profile pictures and cover photos and are also restrained from zooming into photos.

In a recent interview, the company said “We are deeply aware of the concerns people in India, particularly women, have about protecting their online profile”. With the rise of cases like “Boys Locker Room” and “Girls Locker Room”, the community members are a bit uncomfortable in sharing their photos.

Locking the profile will apply multiple privacy options available in a single click and the accounts which are not in your friend list won’t be able to see your posts both historic and new.

A user can lock their profile by tapping on More under their name, the tapping on Lock Profile and confirming multiple dialog boxes that appear.

It is good step taken in account of privacy by facebook and we wish to be successful and being implemented in Instagram also.
