Google Fuchsia – A new OS

Google is trying its hands on making a new OS to give users a new experience of same interface to almost every device he will come through. Does it ring any bells? Yes! Google is trying to make their own Skynet from the movie Terminator.

Hope this doesn’t this way. Anyway coming back to the topic. The OS is being designed for better cross platform experience that is capable to integrate all your devices ranging from smartphones and desktops to car dashboard and embedded chips.

Fuchsia made first appearance in 2016 on self hosted git without any official announcement and was neglected by audience like any other Google project only to realize that it is not some other dump to the ground project. It is actually something to look up to the future.

Fuchsia is the first microkernel based Operating System which makes it easy to load onto devices and embedded chips. What’s so special for the user, you ask? With the Google’s own micro-kernel Zircon, the users will get updates with same frequency as Google Pixels, something which is not very familiar with Android devices.

Fuchsia comes with more user interactions making it more user friendly and making its way through the hearts of new and lazy generation.

Cross- Platform development with Fuchsia

Google Fuchsia’s user interface and apps are built using Flutter which develops Android, iOS and web apps simultaneously. Flutter is also capable of developing highly optimized 120 Hz apps making its way for trendy 120 Hz displays in smartphones.

Future of Google Fuchsia

Cleaner User Interface with high-speed and frequent updates at lesser cost is a win-win situation for both user as well as the manufacturer. Also, same environment throughout the devices is a huge success for Apple, if carefully implemented might serve the same for Google too, which makes Fuchsia the probable successor to our friendly neighborhood Android in the near future.

Deno- A successor to Node.js

In the JSConf 2018 the creator of Node.js Ryan Dahl mentioned 10 things he regret about Node.js. With the aim of getting over these regrets, he presented a model, then built in Go Language but soon to be replaced by Rust Language.

Now its time for the decade old Node.js to finally rest and pass its responsibilities to the official successor named as Deno(anagram of Node). Deno is a runtime for JavaScript and TypeScript and is built with latest language in demand(Rust).

Node.js was developed when JavaScript was way different than what it is nowadays. With implementation of TypeScript, it has become a hectic task for the developers to create projects as well as to make updates for the same.

Deno aims to be a productive and scripting environment for the modern programmer. Similar to Node.js, Deno emphasizes on event-driven architecture, providing a set of non-blocking core IO utilities, along with their blocking versions. Deno could be used to create web servers, perform scientific computations, etc.

Deno comes with typescript out of the box and it is easy to install with a single url and centralized repositories, it tries to fulfill as a standalone tool for all the complex scripts, being written at a single place as a runtime for executing JavaScript and TypeScript outside of the web browser.

Facebook- A step towards security in India

The multi-billion company Facebook has recently launched a new feature specifically for India where user can lock their profiles so that users that are not their friends cannot take screenshots of profile pictures and cover photos and are also restrained from zooming into photos.

In a recent interview, the company said “We are deeply aware of the concerns people in India, particularly women, have about protecting their online profile”. With the rise of cases like “Boys Locker Room” and “Girls Locker Room”, the community members are a bit uncomfortable in sharing their photos.

Locking the profile will apply multiple privacy options available in a single click and the accounts which are not in your friend list won’t be able to see your posts both historic and new.

A user can lock their profile by tapping on More under their name, the tapping on Lock Profile and confirming multiple dialog boxes that appear.

It is good step taken in account of privacy by facebook and we wish to be successful and being implemented in Instagram also.

OnePlus 8 Pro: X-Ray Vision

OnePlus is the new star of the smartphone market which managed to grow exponentially in the subsequent years by sticking to its mid-range flagship deals. Recently they have launched their first premium flagship device OnePlus 8 Pro, and the device is been in limelight from then. Customers are eagerly waiting for it to be in markets amidst this Corona Pandemic, to use this device as their daily driver.

The device managed to be this week’s hot topic with its latest feature: X-Ray Vision, a feature last seen in 1990s Sony Camcorder, which enables the device to see through thin black material by the aid of its IR sensors.

The feature aims to look through the thin plastic of remote controls and things like this, but everything comes with a price. With this see-through technique, the concern of privacy once again arose in the public, the same issue which compelled Sony to call back all its Camcorders.

To test whether the device can see through your clothing, Lewis George Hilsenteger aka Unbox Therapy tested it on himself and Viola! It turns out that it can see through the clothing.

Depending on the severity of issues, the company might restrict the feature or change some of it via an OTA update.

Why Competitive Programming?

Hey there! I see you are looking for reasons to start competitive programming. If you have made it till here, then you deserve a pat on your back. Congratulations champ! You’re more aware than 50% of your classmates about the needs of Programming World. Here are some reasons why you should devote yourself to this sport of sitting at a place and letting your mind play for hours or maybe even days for a single question:-

1. Showoff Time

So you can print “Hello World”! Cute… Anyway, recently I participated in a Global Coding Contest and this is my rank.! Smile… Competitive Programming gives you a proud feeling and a thing to showoff with your ranks. Your respect among peers is directly proportional to your rank, and we all crave for respect, so why not?

2. Hello Companies

Facebook, Google, Amazon and all these big names ask for what you did in College except partying and practicing 9-5 routine. They look for candidates who have good command over Data Structures and Algorithm instead of Chemistry equations. Competitive Programming gives you a wide exposure to DSA and helps to build you a good knowledge base for interviews.

3. Avengers over Batman

I know that you are a lone wolf but your workspace might require you to work with many people without hurting them. So its better you better nobly learn the Team-Spirit. There are multiple coding contests where you need to be in a battleground with your team, hence increasing team spirit as well as your rating.

4. Faster, Correct and Smart

While in a Coding Contest, you compete with some of the World’s best Programmers with a target of winning. Participation makes you competent as you solve multiple tough problems in a stipulated time without errors. All this increases your productivity and helps you unlock your potential and greater heights.

5. More Knowledge

Napolean Hill quoted in his Famous Book, ‘Think and Grow Rich’, “the person who stops learning is doomed to mediocrity forever in his life.” All of you Einstein’s need to get your hands dirty and apply what you’ve learned in College to see where you stand. The bonus point is if you don’t know the topic, you’ll search on Google and will surely get to learn something more than the required topic only.

Here’s some reasons why you should stop everything you are doing and start Competitive Programming. I could write more but I have a Contest to give now. Till then, think of it.

College Started!

Hey there! I see that your 3 months so-called breaks after 12years of school have ended and you’ve landed into a mysterious place you’ve had no idea. Cool! This is your new home now.

and I believe that you don’t trust me! What other options do you have? No offense intended! Read till the last please.

With all broken hearts! I welcome you to School 2.0 aka College. A KJos dream place with not so cool things. (For my international audience :p KJo, tricks people into believing that college is no less than heaven on Earth).

Anyway, its gonna be a helluva experience to all irrespective of what you want to and no matter how shitty this place may become, you’ll miss it after you’ll graduate from this. (You can do it!! Believe in yourself), and I’ll continue to write about things with many coding tricks and codes for help.

Stay Tuned.
